MyGallons.com, a new website, may become the saving grace for the recent gas and oil crisis in America.
MyGallons.com is an Internet service in which you register online and get a card mailed to you which can be used to lock-in current gas prices for future purchases.
MyGallons.com serves as a gas credit card. To pre-purchase fuel, you log-in to you MyGallons.com account to buy gas at the current listed price, plus applicable local taxes.
When you’re logged in, you can also view how many gallons you have left in your balance, look at your transaction history and find the current price for purchasing more gas.
The service is not free. MyGallons.com has a $29.95 annual membership fee, charges you a $15 overdraft fee if you break your prepaid balance.
To avoid overdraft fees, you can enroll in the auto-refill program which pre-purchases more fuel for your account when your balance drops below 15 gallons.
There is also a $1.95 fee for reloading your MyGallons card when using a credit card to pre-pay, according to Fox News reports.
According to the My Gallons participating gas station map, Holiday and SuperAmerica stations in the Twin Cities metro are valid, as are most major gas stations nationwide. More than 200,000 gas stations participate in the program.
